Google recently revealed that they are introducing a new set of ways that allows the user to experience a more user-friendly downloading and deleting procedure. This latest update covers specific processes particularly in terms of searching, browsing, and accessing YouTube viewing history. Furthermore, the update that Google is set to roll out will also allow it users to opt out data collection in the coming months. In an article published in Search Engine Journal, Google hinted that this effort is being carried out as a way of complying with the new European privacy regulations commonly referred to as the GDPR or the General Data Protection Regulation. It was also revealed that the improvements will soon enable the user to use their My Activity page to conveniently access the search, browsing, and YouTube viewing history they made as well as delete them using the same page. With this feature in place, the user upon logging in can now easily click the three-dot menu which is found on the top portion of the page, and delete their search history using the ‘Delete activity by” feature. After doing such, the user will be brought to a menu that will allow them to erase their user history in various ways. It was found out that this can be deleted by product, by date range or by keyword. Given this proposed improvements, digital marketers and site owners are given with a more convenient set of options to manage their search history and when fully rolled will eventually assist them in customising their optimisation campaigns easily.
